College essay help built around one clear story
A strong application is rarely short on accomplishments. What it usually lacks is a reason for an admissions reader to remember the student. Our college essay help starts there. We work with the student to find the one story the application is built around, and then make sure the personal statement, every supplement, the activities list and the recommendations all point to it.
Who this is for
- Seniors writing essays and applications this cycle
- Juniors who want the personal statement drafted before senior year begins
- Families who want help with the application itself without a multi-year engagement
- Students who already have drafts and want an honest read on whether they work
How the work runs
- Narrative first. Before anyone writes a sentence, we review the student’s transcript, activities and goals and agree on the story the application tells. Weak essays usually come from skipping this step.
- Personal statement. Starting from the current Common App essay prompts, we brainstorm topics with the student, test two or three angles, and then work through drafts in the student’s own voice. We edit for clarity. We do not write for them.
- Supplements. Every school gets its own answers. A supplement is the strongest interest signal a student can send, so we do not recycle them across schools.
- The rest of the file. We position the activities list and honors, prepare a brief for each recommender with the context they need, and make the early round decision deliberately.
- Final review. Every part of the application is checked against every other part before submission, so nothing contradicts and no story is used twice.
What’s included
- Personal statement topic development, drafting feedback and line edits

What we will not do
We do not ghostwrite. Admissions readers can hear the difference between a seventeen-year-old and an adult, and an essay that does not sound like the student undermines everything else in the file. Our job is to help the student find what to say and say it clearly.
What an admissions reader looks for in a college essay
Admissions readers move quickly through each file, and the essays are where they decide whether there is someone to advocate for. In my experience, the essays that work share three things. They are specific: one real moment or idea, told in enough detail that no other applicant could have written it. They show how the student thinks, not just what the student has done, because the activities list already covers what they have done. And they sound like a seventeen-year-old who writes clearly, not like an adult.
The most common mistake I see is an essay that repeats the résumé in paragraph form. The second is a polished essay about a topic that tells the reader nothing new. Good college essay help catches both early, before a student spends weeks polishing the wrong draft.
Frequently asked questions
Do you write essays for students?
No. We guide, question and edit, and the words stay the student’s.
How many drafts do you review?
There is no fixed limit. We keep working until the essay is ready, which usually takes several rounds.
Can we get essay help without full counseling?
Yes. Application and essay support is available on its own, either hourly or as part of a package, and we discuss which fits on the free call.
When should seniors start?
Ideally the summer before senior year, so the personal statement is close to final when school starts and the fall can go to supplements. We also work with students who start later.
